How to Look After Your Pickleball Paddle in the UAE Heat
Simple habits that keep your pickleball paddle's grip, grit and edge in top shape through Dubai summers.
Heat, humidity and outdoor courts are tough on pickleball paddles. A few simple habits will keep your paddle's grip tacky, its face gritty and its edge guard intact for much longer.
1. Never leave your paddle in a hot car
Cars in the UAE get extremely hot, and sustained heat can affect adhesives, edge guards and foam cores. Take your paddle with you, or keep it in a padded bag or a hard case like the Selkirk LABS Collector's Case.
2. Change your overgrip regularly
Sweat breaks down grip tape quickly in humid conditions. A fresh overgrip takes two minutes to fit and makes a big difference to control. Our Daltom overgrips are tacky and absorbent, and come in four colours.
3. Clean the face to keep your spin
Ball residue, dust and sweat build up on the paddle face and reduce grit, which means less spin. Use a dedicated cleaner such as the Pikle Foaming Cleaner Set rather than harsh household products.
4. Protect the edge
Scrapes on the court wear down the edge guard. Clear edge tape, sized for 14mm or 16mm paddles, adds an invisible layer of protection.
5. Store it properly
Keep your paddle out of direct sun between games and store it indoors, ideally in a cover or case.
The easy option: the Court Ready Set
The Paddle Dept. Court Ready Set bundles two overgrips (mix and match the colours) with edge tape in your paddle's thickness, for AED 49.
